CONTEST IS CLOSED
I'm in the process of judging the entries! Thank you for participating!

Hey! I have hit 200 watchers! That's a huge milestone, and I really appreciate it. A lot of people tend to do stuff like this for their watchers, but I really wanted to do it for another reason.

So what is this contest going to be about?
Well, as in the title, it is partially about you drawing/writing/making/however-you-want-to-do-it-to your OCs. Yes, your OCs. This is about your characters here, so pick whichever you want! Beyond the ones that always go nude. Hold back on those please. XD
But truthfully, the biggest part is more than just the pictures or the presentation; it's the characters themselves I want you to be focusing on. I need (well not need but in terms of this contest, it is what I am looking for) to see your development status on the character. It's good to know the fundamental details, like their primary drive, what they're working towards, etc. But it's not only that that you may choose to focus on, as there are just so many small things that can make a character real . Character quirks. Who's tapping their fingers on every available wooden surface and listening to ASMR to go to sleep? Mistakes. When did they royally screw up, and it wasn't easily forgiven or brushed off by all parties? Small likes and dislikes. What's their favorite drink? What do they like to wear and how does it evolve during the day? (from what they wake up in to their casual or work clothes, to maybe other costume changes, maybe to casual or straight to bed clothes at the end, however they do it.) Just stuff like that! It helps you develop the character/s, and in terms of this contest in particular, it is to help show off or display your original character's ... well, character!
You can do it so many ways, but there are a few rules. I'll get to that in a second though.
If my explanation is lacking, it may be because there can be a lot that goes into character creation. Drawing them like you would any character you weren't focusing on the expression or personality of displays their design, and that's a great way to get to know a character. But there's of course the other part of this, where you get to know them as a person. Expressing any part of their character - be it the complicated backstory or the simple, silly puns they make or anything else - or even their relationship with another character/s (and okay we'll make creator's count as an option for the other characters) is what this contest is about. Finding the words for it is becoming a tad difficult. XD
But! I think you get the gist of it, and if not, then ask me and I'll try my best to answer again and explain it a little better. :) (Smile)

And just for some help, I highly recommend character sheets and questionnaires that help you find out more about your OCs. Just sayin'. It can be really useful. :) (Smile)

Notes for Artists Drawing Their OCs
Your style may clash with the ideas of displaying the sides you want to of your OC, or you aren't consistently the best at doing expressions or showing emotion, or you may have a different problem than all of that. While I encourage trying it out and experimenting, I'll allow, for all creators the option to use more than their character to display parts of their OC. Maybe you're really good at scenery, and want to draw the living quarters of the character. That's great! Learning how they live, or thinking up any place they spend a lot of time in/that means a lot to them is a great way to show off a bit of who they are. Maybe all you can draw is items. That's fine! What item or items are closely connected to your character? They could be used as symbolism, be something they possess, or they could be something that meant a lot to them, be it good or bad. Anything you think up is fine, so long as it shows off something about or with the character and follows the rules.
If you are submitting a drawn work - digitally or traditionally - and you read this, comment saying "I'm here for the movie."

Notes for Writers Writing Their OCs
Like I said in the Artist one, you can use more than the character to portray a bit of who they are. Describe things that matter to them, describe where they live, what they eat. You can describe the entire life of the OC without ever actually showing them in it. Maybe some flashbacks here and there describing some of the context, but maybe not even that. Just a walk through their life. (again, for all creators) And there's no need to be in-universe; if you think the Zombie Apocalypse AU better shows off how your character trained hard and long to learn, understand, and strive for peace, then go on! You think this slight off-canon of your original or main ideas for the character would better tell the story of how they valued farming? Yes! Do what you want! You can show their entire lives, their canon lives, their (most likely) (I'm just sayin') tragic backstories. You can show them putting their shoes on and how they tie the laces, you can write about how they interact with certain kinds or certain key people in their lives, you can write your entry just being them stuffing grapes into their mouths for their own reasons and what happened as a result. You can write in their view, an all-knowing third person, your own personal one. Make your style like the kind they would write. Or not! Tell the story of how they came into being. Really, anything is possible here.
If you are submitting a written work and you read this, comment "I'm here for the movie based on the book I read."

Notes for People Making Stuff for Their OCs
I'll admit, this one has me just a tiny bit worried. There may be a struggle as to how you can make your non-drawn, non-written character express themselves, but considering this is pretty open format, I'll try to list a few ways that may or may not apply to you (sorry). If your character is a physical object, even just a square, and you have a camera, you can take pictures of your character doing stuff they normally do or pretty much anything (stuff they like, stuff they don't like, etc). If you want, just having them stand or something next to a thing would be fine. If your square likes cheese, set them up near a thing of cheese! Or if your square doesn't like cheese ... set them up near a thing of cheese anyway. If your character is not a physical object.... Moving on, if you are unable to draw or write or do anything for your character, that is okay! You can use character creators and doll makers to try and capture that expression, if you are able to. Points will be docked, but only if you put it under the 'drawings' catagory.
If you are submitting an 'Other' work and you read this, say "I'm here for the extras."

  Rules:
+ No NSFW.
+ Please credit any creators whose content you might have used (photomanips, closed species owners, original owners if you bought or traded or some such the character from them)
+ Please, use your own OCs. I understand it might be appealing to do something with someone else's, or use a character from a different thing, but please. This is not about design. This about your own personal creation. I want you to feel proud of this. And even if not, just to try is good enough. You're understanding your character a little better no matter how long you think about it - so long as it is more than zero minutes, zero seconds, zero nanose-. It is important to understand the creations you have, and even to those that aren't your favorite, the more thought and work you put into them, the more aware you might be of who they are and what roles they may play in things you might put them in. I don't know what your purposes are for having your OCs, but this is for those that regardless of that purpose might wanna try to get to know them better, or show off what they have learned. Sorry, this got a little long. XD
+ Categorize your entry as either: Drawing (Dw), Writing (Wr), or Other (Ot). (not sure on the initials but just thought it'd be easier.)
+Multiple Entries ARE allowed. But will be looked at and decided on separately.
+ You know, you don't have to but making a journal or something would be cool. So there are enough entries that this isn't extended to next December. XD
+ You can tag people if you want. Again, don't have to. Just to spread the word.
+ Respond to this with your entry (or note me if you do not want your entry to be seen, as it will likely be linked to if you win): comments.deviantart.com/1/6506…

For the moment you've all been waiting for!
  *xXXXXX___Prizes___XXXXXx*

1st Place Winner:
_
1 Portrait picture as described and offered in Commissions. Number of Characters is still capped at four, you may ask for background.
2 Digital Sketch pictures.
1 pony. That's not true. I'll give you a llama, but I may have already given you one, so it depends. If I have given you a llama, +1 digital sketch.

Second Place Winner:
_

3 Digital Sketch Pictures OR a line art with flat color, optional background. You MAY get a portrait picture depending because I hate seeing them when there could be so much done to make them better. Consider that a gift though, and not part of the prize.
1 llama. If I have already given you a llama, you get an optional hug. If you do not want the hug, I can draw you a cookie. If you do not want the cookie, I can draw you a cow. Not a very good cow. But a cow nonetheless.

Third Place Winner
_
1 Digital Sketch
1 optional hug. The same that applied with the optional hug above also applies to this one. (Aka - if you don't want the hug, i'll draw a cookie. If you don't want the cookie, I'll draw a badly-drawn cow)

Fourth Place Winner (I can hope XD)
_
1 piece of writing from me, at least 100 words. Not sure on what to cap it word-wise.
